2008-2009 PROPSED BUDGET OVERVIEW

The Pine-Richland School Board is balancing its budget without a tax increase for the fifth year in a row.

The proposed final General Operation Fund Budget for the 2008-2009 School Year includes $62,257,796 in expenditures and total revenues of $60,472,618 with an unreserved designated fund balance of $1,785,178 for capital projects.

This proposed budget represents a zero increase in real estate tax millage for the taxpayers of the District. This is the fifth consecutive year that the millage rate will remain at 20.20 mills.

The 2008-2009 proposed final budget provides for some significant educational and capital enhancements for PRSD. These enhancements include:


• Balanced budget with no millage increase
or use of Unreserved, undesignated fund
balance

• Maintain current programs at all levels

• Provide for enhancements in programs

• Open Eden Hall Upper Elementary with no
millage increase including debt financing
and operational expenditures
Enhancements

• Foreign languages introduced in Grade 6

• Electives for 8th grade students

• Additional staff for enrollment increases and
program needs

• Two new interscholastic sports

• Additional coaches for football

• New fitness equipment for MS

• Technology upgrades & replacements
