Performing Arts Scholarship Award Applications Available

The Jeff Calhoun Performing Arts Scholarship Award application is now available to Pine-Richland High School seniors planning to pursue a career/future in the performing arts. Students are encouraged to download an application by clicking here.. Seniors can visit the PRHS Guidance Office for a copy of the application and should return their application packet no later than Friday, May 2, 2008.

1978 Richland High School graduate Jeff Calhoun announced that he would sponsor an award each year in the amount of $5,000. Seniors will be required to submit a DVD detailing their post-high school plans and a performance or monologue.

Calhoun made the announcement during Pine-Richland’s 50 th Celebration Concert. Calhoun, who is best known for his work on Broadway, is directing Disney’s High School Musical on Tour, which is based on the Disney Channel’s original hit movie. During the celebration concert, the Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund (PROF) honored Calhoun with a Hall of Fame Award. PROF president Don Foster presented Calhoun with a special plaque.

Foster also awarded 1997 Pine-Richland High School graduate Jonathan Passavant and former Pine Elementary student Martin McKinney with Hall of Fame Awards as well.
