PRHS Students Learn Interviewing Skills

What’s the best way to prepare for a job interview? Many would agree practice.

That’s just what students in Pine-Richland High School Teacher Laura Blaze’s Career & Professional Development class are doing – getting practice.

Students welcomed business executives into their classrooms in this semester. The business executives served as interview panelists.

Joining the class were business executives from Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc., Richey Construction, Gateway Hospice, Children’s Hospital of UPMC, Clear Abstract, Tom Henry Chevrolet, PPG, Orange Business Services, Federated Investors and PNC Bank participated in the mock interviews. Students were interviewed by a human resource specialist, physician, chief operating officer and lawyer as well as directors.

“Bringing in experienced members from the community helps better prepare our students,” Blaze said. “The students really prepared and were excited about the opportunity.”

Students spent some time studying the field they were interested in, researching colleges, studying the application process and practicing questions before the interviews.
