PRMS Eighth Grader Earns First Place in DAR Essay Contest

A Pine-Richland Middle School eighth grader earned first place in the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR) 2007-2008 Essay Contest. DAR representative Ellen Hill awarded Branden Glass with a first place bronze pin and certificate at PRMS on Feb. 27, 2008.  Students had the chance to write an essay entitled “I Spy Espionage During the American Revolution.”  Hill said Glass’ essay was very creative and captured the essence of the competition.   

 

Hill awarded 28 other Pine-Richland Middle School eighth grade students will participation certificates. They include: Cameron Barnes, Erich Barth, Rachel Bauer, J. Alexandra Brachocki, Tyler Depew, Ellen Graszl, Nigel Halliday, Laura Herrle, Scott Hilger, Kierstyn Hughes, Katie Hutchison, Kelly Kusevich, Nicholas Lacek, Jonathan Marks, Allie Marshall, Annaliese Milano, Chris Miller, Mike Morrissey, John Michael Oleksa, Ji-Ho Park, Peter Pearson, Taylor Perz, Katie Rogers, Sam Sedory, Alex Sharer, Raychel Shipley, Graham Michael Suvick and Stephen Szelong.

 

Students participated in the essay contest under the direction of teachers: Dr. Susan Frantz, Joe Bailey, Eric Brown and Jennifer Fink. Glass’ essay now will be judged at the state level. In all 10 schools participated in the program. In all DAR judges received 145 entries.
