Students Win State, National Honors
Pine-Richland Middle School eighth grader Branden Glass will be traveling to Washington, DC, where he will read his award winning Daughters of American Revolution Essay contest on July 10, 2008. Glass was the eighth grade winner of the Pennsylvania Daughters of American Revolution Essay Contest. He will attend their Pennsylvania Luncheon at the DAR Continental Congress. Glasses’ essay won at the local level, then the state level and finally at the national level of competition.
Glass is being recognized also for his winning entry in the "Month of the Young Adolescent" Essay Contest sponsored by The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Middle School Association (PMSA).
He wrote an essay addressing the topic: How will your education contribute to making Pennsylvania Smarter?
A representative from PHEAA visited the middle school to present the school with a $1,000 check and to honor Glass for his essay with a certificate and special gift.
Nine other students in his Pre-AP English class were finalists in this contest at the PRMS level of competition as well. They included: J. Alexandra Brachocki, Raychel Shipley, Rachel Baur, Jonathan Marks, Laura Herrle, Ellen Graszl , Eric Barth, Cameron Barnes and Annie Milano
