Dr. Miller began his appointment as superintendent of schools on July 1, 2013. He serves as the seventh Superintendent in the long history of the Pine-Richland School District. Pine-Richland is located in the most northern portion of Allegheny County, PA, and serves more than 4,600 students K-12. The district has seen significant and continuous growth since the early nineties. As a result, PRSD is noted for having a strong academic reputation, a community that values the importance of education, a wide range of educational programs, and first-rate facilities.
Prior to joining Pine-Richland, Dr. Miller served in a variety of roles the North Allegheny School District from 1996 through 2013. Most recently, he was the Assistant Superintendent of K-12 Education. Other roles at North Allegheny included: the assistant superintendent for secondary education and curriculum, assistant superintendent for curriculum, principal, assistant principal, teacher, and coach.
Dr. Miller earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University in the area of Exercise and Sport Science. He then completed his Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Carlow University. With this degree, he gained certification as a Secondary and Elementary Principal. For two years, Dr. Miller participated in the Principals Academy of Western Pennsylvania through the University of Pittsburgh. In 2008, he completed the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program for Educational Leadership at Duquesne University which included a Superintendent Letter of Eligibility. Dr. Miller completed the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Carlow University in July 2013.For the past two years, he has served as a national examiner for the Malcolm Baldridge Performance Excellence Program.
With his recent appointment as Superintendent of Pine-Richland, Dr. Miller received a Commission from the Pennsylvania Department of Education through June 30, 2017. Additional information can be found via this resume link.
