School's back in session.....
 
Teachers and staff welcomed back nearly 4,500 students on Monday, August 27, 2007. bus

So what's new in 2007-2008 at PR?:
  • PRSD will celebrate  its 50th Anniversary this school year.

  • Construction on the new upper elementary school is expected to be completed by August 2008.

  • Two additional teachers are being hired to support the accelerated programs and anticipated enrollments at the high school level.

  • The district is allocating an additional $75,000 for e-learning courses and virtual field trips.

  • The district hired two assistant superintendents (Mary Bucci, Ed.D., assistant superintendent/elementary and Bille Rondinelli, Ed.D., assistant supt./secondary).

  • The district hired Jean Whalen as its college & career information specialist  to assist students in preparing for career options & college selection at the high school level. 

  • PRHS assistant principal Paula Schmitt will now serve as the district's special education director, PRMS Assistant Principal John Pietrusinski will now serve as PRHS assistant principal, and Teacher Michele Welter will serve as an acting assistant principal at the middle school.

  • The district will be increasing the number of para-educators to keep pace with growing enrollments and student needs/services.

  • The "Classrooms for the Future" Grant  will continue to fund technology initiatives, which include equipment and software purchases to improve the
    infrastructure of the district's network, replacing teacher laptops and providing interactive classroom technology.


  • The district will be upgrading security systems on the secondary campus.

  • The district will be expanding the pre-AP program for the 2007-2008 school year. Students have the opportunity to take eighth and ninth grade level pre-AP courses. Those students will be eligible to take AP classes beginning in 10th grade.

  • The district is launching a new ticketing process for season, reserved and/or boxed tickets for varsity home football games. Order forms for these tickets are due Aug. 31, 2007. Order forms can be picked up in the school buildings or downloaded by visiting www.pinerichland.org.
