School Board Meeting Details

 

The board will meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month  with one board meeting in July on July 12.  Meetings are held in the Administration Building's DeWitt Blank Conference Room at 7:30 p.m.  See the entire meeting schedule by clicking here.

PR School District General News

HS PictureSuperintendent Provides Update on Expansion Project
To keep you informed, Dr. Mary Bucci will provide regular updates on the Pine-Richland High School expansion project. She reminds the community the district is mapping out this plan with a strategic vision to craft a well-thought out blueprint to ensure expansion goes hand-in-hand with the curriculum. She has been involved in the process of meeting with the architect and consultants on a regular basis. Read her message.

PR Kindergarten Registration Scheduled for February:   Registration for kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year will take place at the District's Administrative Offices located behind the High School.  Click here for details including the registration day scheduled for the elementary school your child will attend.

Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund Gears Up to Award More than $18,000 in Scholarships:  The Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund is announcing today the availability of eight scholarships equaling nearly $18,000.  Scholarship applications are due April 9, 2010, except for the Gallagher-Lynn Scholarship, which is due April 30, 2010.  Details...

Tax Rebate Forms Available for Senior Citizens in Pine & Richland Townships:  Tell your neighbors, friends, and family members who are senior citizens and live in Pine or Richland Townships that there's a tax rebate incentive if they qualify.  Details...

PRSD Hosting Allegheny Valley Senior Jazz Festival:  Being held in the PRHS auditorium on February 5 at 7 p.m. This free event will feature excellent jazz bands from PR, North Allegheny, Shaler, Hampton, Fox Chapel and Riverview.

Students Hosting PR Jazz Night:  Being held in the PRHS Atrium on February 23.  The program is free and open to the public and will feature the jazz bands and jazz ensemble from PRMS and PRHS.  *Please note this program was originally scheduled for February 24.

Recognizing PR Achievement 

PR Students Qualify for FBLA State Leadership Conference:  More than two dozen PRHS students qualified to participate in the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Competition, which is scheduled for April 12-14, in Hershey, PA.  Details...

Choir Students to Make Debut on PBS March 7:  The PRHS Chamber Singers and an Eden Hall Upper Elementary student will make their debut on PBS March 7 at 6:30 p.m. They've been selected to be a part of a televised event called "Celebrate America" being broadcast on PBS stations and subsequently sold as a DVD. PR Students Earn Accolades in the Arts:  From the National High School Honors Orchestra to participating in the PMEA District 1 Chorus, students are busy participating in programs with prestige.  Check out some accomplishments.

District Outreach Events

The PRMS Drama Club Production Rescheduled:  The PRMS Production of the "Wizard of Oz", originally scheduled for February 4-6, has been rescheduled to Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. PRMS is located at 100 Logan Road in Gibsonia.  Some of the proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish and fund raising for Haiti.

5K/5 Mile Team Alex Run/Walk, April 24:  Organizers are accepting registrations for a 5K/5 Mile Run Walk to benefit Alex Brown, a Pine-Richland 4-year-old. The program will begin at the North Park Boathouse at 9 a.m. on April 24.  Click here for race registration details and sponsorship details.

District Fundraisers

Tonight -- Hockey Fundraiser:  Join us tonight, February 5, at 6 p.m. for the Varsity Ice Hockey game vs. Seneca Valley at Warrendale Bladerunners, followed by "PRHS Hockey Night at Quaker Steak & Lube" from 7:30-10:30 p.m.  Ten percent of proceeds generated by Rams Fans will be donated to the PR Hockey Club.  Click here for the flier that must be presented.    
 
PR Lacrosse to Host Fundraiser:  Pine-Richland Lacrosse is hosting a fundraising event Thursday, February 18 from 7-10 p.m. at
Buffalo Wild Wings in Gibsonia.  Click here for a special flier that you must present for 10 percent of the bill to benefit the team.

Softball Boosters Sponsoring a Night at the Races:  PRHS Softball Boosters is sponsoring a Night At The Races (adults only) on Saturday, February 27, at the Wexford Knights of Columbus from 6-11 p.m.  Admission is $20 which includes a Buffet Dinner, beverages, munchies, and a whole lot of fun!  For tickets or more information, please contact Regina Kelly

Sports Leagues, Teams, and Activities

Spring Field Hockey Program for Girls & Boys in Grades K-6:  PRYC hosting Sunday sessions from April 11-May 23 at the Pine-Richland High School Stadium.  Click here for details and registration form.  Registration is due March 26.

Spring Soccer Clinic:  Jodi Chmielewski, Pine-Richland Girls' Varsity soccer coach and Director of the PRGS Academy, will offer a spring soccer clinic for girls in grades 1-3.  The clinic will be held from 1-2:15 p.m. beginning Sunday, April 11, and will run for eight weeks.  Click here for the registration form.  Questions?  Contact Jodi Chmielewski

PR Youth Baseball and Softball - Registration Open by Mail!  T-Ball and Baseball league deadline is February 12.  Softball league deadline is March 12.  Applications received after these dates will be accepted but will include a $50 late fee.  Send the completed registration form and a check payable to "PRBSA" to: PRBSA, PO Box 243, Gibsonia, PA 15044.  Raffle tickets will be distributed through your coach.  Click here for the registration form.

 

Pine-Richland Soccer Club Spring 2010 Registration:  On-Site Registrations have passed.  Mail-in registrations must be post-marked between January 9 and February 6, 2010 to guarantee team placement.  Late registrations will be assessed a $20 late fee, wait-listed, and processed if space is available.  The last day to request refunds is February 6.  Click here for more information.

Pine Township

Dodge Ball Tournament:  Come to the Pine Community Center on February 15 (no school!) at noon for our first annual Dodge Ball Tournament.  Tournament is limited to eight teams of six players each.  Tournament is round-robin style with single elimination playoffs.  Deadline for sign-ups is February 10; all teammates must sign up together.  Cost is $5 per person.

Family Fun Night:   Being held at the Pine Community Center on Friday, February 12 from 7-9 p.m.  Fun activities include Pickle-ball, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, Wii games and more!  Free to members, $5 per person for non-members.  Details...

Self-Defense for Women:  On Saturday, February 13, from 10-11 a.m., the Pine Community Center is offering a one-day class for women ages 14 and up.  The class provides the basic steps and tips for self-defense and is taught by a second-degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do.  Cost is $5 for members or $7 for non-members.  Register by February 6.  Details....

Summer Camps/Programs

Camp Invention is Coming to Pine-Richland:  The Camp Invention Innovate program is coming to Wexford Elementary June 21-25. Through a unique partnership with the nonprofit Invent Now Kids, the Pine-Richland School District is hosting this nationally-acclaimed program for local children.  Click here for details and here for the registration form, which is due March 31. 

Chatham University's Camp E.D.E.N. Program is Registering for Summer 2010!  Chatham University offers summer camp at the Eden Hall Campus for children ages 5-12.  Day camp information can be found at the Chatham website or by contacting the day camp office at 412-365-1174 or daycamp@chatham.edu.
