PR to Celebrate School Director Recognition
Month: Board members always keep their eyes on the goal of
student achievement. In acknowledgment of their dedicated
service, January is designated School Director Recognition
Month. Administrators, teachers, staff, community members,
parents, and students are planning to show their appreciation
January 25 at 7 p.m. This year's theme is "Educating
for Success. Inspiring Excellence!" Click here for

Registration Due January 11 -- Grades K-3 PRIMA World Language Academy
2010: Register
today for PRIMA's World Language Academy for all students in
grades K-3. Sessions held on Thursdays from 5-6 p.m. at
the Middle School from January 21-March 11. Click here for

PR Continues to Partner with Alliance: PRSD partners with the Alliance Against Drugs
and the Pennsylvania Attorney General in a "Prevention Video
of the Month" program. These short videos are streamed over
a high-speed Internet connection. Talking points for
parents and students are available from the Alliance web

PRMS Students Earn Top Awards While Learning
Valuable Skills in Stock Market Game: PRMS GATE students took top awards in a county
online Stock Market Game. PRMS students earned first,
second, and third place out of 32 teams in the Allegheny County

Organizers of the 2009-2010 National Geography Bee
are announcing the top winners of its annual competition.
First-place winner Lauren Brown will be taking a written
qualifying exam to determine if she will compete in the state

of the PR Family: Four-year-old
Alex Brown, the son of PRMS Teacher Eric
Brown, has been in the ICU since October. To help
the family during this difficult time, we are providing an
opportunity to purchase "Team Alex" t-shirts. Click here for

2nd Annual P-R Varsity Ice Hockey Team
Outdoor Game! The
Varsity Hockey team will play North Allegheny in its second
annual outdoor hockey game on Monday, January 25, at 7 p.m.
at North Park Ice Skating Rink. Proceeds will
benefit Breast Cancer Research. Last year,
we had a terrific crowd, a very exciting game, and raised several
thousand dollars. We hope to surpass that this season.

Pine Community Center Offering Many Programs:
Unless otherwise indicated, click here for

Teen Pickleball Tournament - Hosted by the Pine Community Center on Friday,
January 15 (no school!) at noon. This tournament is limited
to 20 teams of 2, so sign up now! $5 per person.

Teen and youth Zumba classes at the Pine Community Center start
the week of January 11. Come try out the newest dance and
fitness craze!
Self
Defense Class for Women age 14 and up - This class is
taught one Saturday each month at the Pine Community Center by a
second degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. Fee is $5 for
members, $7 for non-members.
Urban
Art for Teens - Learn to draw and paint city scenes
using perspective. Students will create three paintings and
one air-dry clay project during this six-week class beginning on
Tuesday, January 12 at the Pine Community Center.
Kid
Fit Club
- The Pine Community Center is offering a 12-week class for 8 -
15 year-olds who would like to learn or improve basic sports and
fitness skills. Participants will learn how to improve
strength, flexibility and coordination using free weights,
exercise bands and weight training principals. Classes
start the week of January 11.
Tae-Kwon-Do - Introductory lessons for ages 6 and up at the Pine
Community Center start the Wednesday, January 13. For more

Sporty Kids - Bring your 4-6 year-olds to the Pine Community
Center for this parent/child class introducing kids to the
fundamentals of sports. Skills taught will include
throwing, catching, kicking, and batting. Class starts
Friday, January 15.

Kickers
- Get a head-start on the spring soccer season with this
introductory soccer skills class for 4-6 year-olds at the Pine
Community Center. The 8-week class starts the week of
January 11.
Discovery
Kids Classes
- The Pine Community Center is offering a series of 3 hands-on
classes for kids age 3-6. Each class focuses on discovering
different principals about nature, science or art in a fun,
interactive environment. First class is Tuesday, February
