Dear Community Member,
Thank you for your efforts in contacting members of the State Senate regarding graduation exams known as Keystone Exams.Your actions along with others across the state had a positive impact.
SB 281 was taken up by the Senate Appropriations Committee. The Committee unanimously reported the bill as committed. The Senate took up the bill and passed it by a vote of 48-1.
The Pine-Richland Leadership team is in full agreement with the Pine-Richland School Board that graduate competency examinations are not necessary, most especially since the state is experiencing a shortfall in its budgeting process. This money is better spent on meaningful education and programs that help learners reach their full potential.
Therefore, we are asking for YOUR assistance to be proactive in contacting the STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. There are actually two bills in the House of Representatives that will allow for the School Code to be amended in order to prevent implementation of Graduation Exit Exams (Keystone Exams) and/or any expenditure for this purpose without the approval of the General Assembly.
