Concert Policy
Attendance at concerts for all performing
ensembles is required as a portion of the student's evaluation (grade).
In extreme cases, a student may be excused from a performance. An unexcused
absence may result in a lower grade percentage.
If you have any questions regarding the
dress code, time to report, or absences, you may refer to your handbook (middle
and high school), or contact the instructor.
Music Selection Criteria
Music for performances is
selected primarily for educational purpose. Instructors also choose
music based on each group's ability level in order to challenge them to their
musical potential. It is the goal of our music educators to foster
an appreciation for all types and styles of music and cultures. Music
with sacred text or religious meaning may be included for study or performances,
provided they model an educational or historical value to the students as
a whole. Parents/guardians have the right to exclude their child from
any portion of a performance that may conflict with their religious beliefs
without penalty to the student.
