Students in the 4th grade may choose to study a band instrument and play in the school band.  Each student is tested to determine which instrument(s) they would have the most success in attempting.  Then a parent meeting is held to discuss lesson procedures, instrument rentals, and expectations of the instructors.

Students receive a small group lesson and a full band rehearsal each week.  Students are expected to practice their assigned lessons and record their practice times in their instruction book.  This book will be checked weekly by the band instructor, and stickers and rewards are given to students who practice the required number of minutes per week.

The 4th grade band performs a Spring concert, and the 5th grade band performs in both a Winter and Spring concert.  Private lessons are recommended to increase each student's level of interest and ability.  Recommendations on private instructors and lesson venues are available from each instructor below.
