High School Orchestra

Orchestra is an elective course that meets one period daily.   String players who are proficient at a level 3 or above are welcome to sign up.  The orchestra performs at least two concerts per year.   At our Spring Concert we add Winds, Brass and Percussion players to form a Full Symphony Orchestra.   In addition, we go on one trip each year and attend concerts by the Pittsburgh Symphony and professional chamber groups.   There will be opportunities for students to participate in  PMEA District, Regional, and State orchestra festivals as well as Honors and Strings North Festival orchestras.  Our orchestra performs a wide variety of music ~ such composers as Vivaldi, J.S. Bach, Faure, Percy Grainger, Mozart, Holst, Beethoven; also Jazz, Fiddle, Movie and Pop arrangements.

Students may audition to take Orchestra as an Honors Course.

Students may also audition to play in a small Chamber Ensemble.
