Middle School Chorus

Students may choose Chorus as a performing ensemble at PRMS.  The class is currently taught during the Homebase period.  Students may choose to participate in no more than 2 performing ensembles.  Auditions are not required to be in the choir; however, a short voice test is given to each student to determine his/her range and strength.  Daily instruction allows students to explore reading music, solfeggio, vocal blend, tone production and support, and the benefits of being part of a large group.  Each grade performs for a Winter and Spring concert, and one District-wide choral event held at the High School.  In addition, honors choir opportunities exist for all three grade levels.

In 7th and 8th grades, students may choose to audition for the following special ensembles that meet after school:

Chamber Singers

The Chamber Singers is a group of approximately 36 - 40 boys and girls who perform more challenging music.  They must pass an audition, and be willing to meet once per week after school.

A Cappella Choir

The a cappella choir is a small group of approximately 20 - 24 girls who perform all of their music without instrumental accompaniment.   Since a cappella singing requires superior listening skills, students must pass an audition that has a short ear training session.  This group also performs on occasion at local events and public concerts.
