Middle School Orchestra

Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 may choose to enroll in the middle school strings program.  Students may choose to participate in no more than 2 performing ensembles. Prior knowledge of a string instrument is generally required; however, if private instruction is obtained during the summer before the fall semester, the student can begin.

Students will perform in a Winter and Spring concert.  Opportunities exist for PMEA Honors Orchestra in 7th and 8th grade.  Audition information is available from the instructor

Advanced String Ensemble
Students who are enrolled in the middle school strings program may audition for the Advanced String Ensemble.  If selected, rehearsals are held once per week after school.  This group also performs for concerts, and a higher level of musicianship is achieved through more advanced musical pieces.

Practicing is an essential part of successful playing!  Students are expected to practice, and record their times on a Practice Journal.  This journal is turned in at the end of each 9 week period as part of the student's grade.  If you have lost your Practice Journal, you may print one from the following link.      (PDF)
