Eight PRHS Students ‘Commended’
The National Merit Scholarship program is naming eight Pine-Richland High School students as Commended Students in its 2010 program.
Co-interim principals John Mayberry and John Pietrusinski will present the following seniors “Letters of Commendation”: Nicholas Donnelly, Derek Feger, Anne Graszl, Jennifer Jokl, Michelle Marano, Jennifer Soracco, Lauren Stanley and Alyssa Whittington.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. They placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2010 competition by taking the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
In September, three students were named Semifinalists in the program. They included: Ann Jacob, Geoff King and Curtis Mahoney.
These academically talented high school seniors have the opportunity to continue on in the competition for some 8,200 National Merit Scholarships and were among 16,000 Semifinalists nationwide.
