What is ParentCONNECT? <<< Return to Top
ParentCONNECT is a convenient home-to-school collaboration tool that allows Parents to keep track of their children's academic progress online via an easy-to-use Web site. With their personal password, Parents gain access to a secure, “read-only” system, permitting access to the following information:
  • school program announcements,
  • student schedules, grades, assignments,
  • discipline issues,
  • daily attendance,
  • course history,
  • demographic and health/immunization data.
ParentCONNECT enables easy communication with teachers via e-mail as well as enabling you to receive automatic e-mail notification of unexcused absences, missing assignments, tardies, discipline incidents, or failing grades.

Why does it take so long to process a new ParentCONNECT registration? <<< Return to Top
First of all, depending upon the time of year you submit your registration, you could be mixed among just a few registrations or you could be mixed with hundreds of registrations. Because we must protect the confidentiality of our student information, we must perform many procedures to ensure that only people who should have knowledge about a student actually have access to that information. We only process registrations for students' parents or legal guardians. Registrations from people other than those registered with the School District as legally responsible for a particular student will be ignored.

Why doesn't my seventh-grader appear on my ParentCONNECT account automatically? <<< Return to Top
We do not track which families have both a ParentCONNECT account and have children moving from an Elementary School into the Middle School. If you have a Middle School or High School child who is not on your account, then you must specifically request that they be added.

I see two different sets of grades for my child. One is on the "Grades" pencil and the other is on the "Assignments" pencil in the Schedule table. What is the difference? <<< Return to Top
The grades that appear when you select the "Grades" pencil are the grades that reflect the student's status on the most recent Thursday evening. Our Guidance Department extracts those grades each Thursday evening in order to produce a number of eligibility reports. Grades appearing under the "Grades" pencil are also the grades that appeared on the most recent report card issued. The grades you see in the Schedule section under the "Assignments" pencil are the grades that are the most up-to-date, coming directly from the Teachers' gradebooks. In fact, if you click on these particular grades, you will see the associated assignments and tests contributing to them.

I see a "Security Alert" window when I try to access the ParentCONNECT web site. Why does it appear? <<< Return to Top
The alert window that says, "There is a problem with this website's security certificate", is telling you that you are going to a site that is secured, but the security certificate we used to own has not been updated. We simply chose to not renew the certificate. This warning should be heeded on sites that might be questionable, but since we own our site, you may proceed by clicking the "Continue to this website" button. If you don't proceed, then you will not be able to use ParentCONNECT.

Why do I have to go to the School's office to pick up my ParentCONNECT account information? That is so inconvenient for me since I work during the day. <<< Return to Top
We have tried to make ParentCONNECT quite a convenient method for Parents to stay tuned to their children's academic progress. We have eliminated most of your paperwork and permit you to register over the Internet. With this in mind, it is not hard to understand that anyone could actually register for a ParentCONNECT account trying to gain access to your children's information. At some point, prior to actually providing the account connection, we must request positive proof that you are indeed the student's custodial or legal parent and/or guardian. By having you pick up your account information in person, we are able to verify that you are the person who registered for the account. We have already performed the required checks to ensure that the student's information can be shared with you prior to you being notified to pick up your account information.

How do I change my ParentCONNECT password and/or email address? <<< Return to Top
Your password and email address may be changed from the "Settings" screen. Pressing the "Settings" button on ParentCONNECT's main screen will permit you to do both of these actions. Please note that if you change your password, the program will only accept password lengths of between six and nine characters, even though your original password may be as long as twelve characters. (If we could change this, we would have already done so.)
