The Pine-Richland School Board reorganized on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. and re-appointed Steve Hawbaker as president and Richard Herko as vice president during the board meeting.

Dr. Jeffrey Banyas representing Region 2 in Pine and Richland Townships was newly elected in November to the seat vacated by Gary Deschamps, who retired after eight years. Dr. Banyas is an ear, nose and throat specialist.

Stephen Hawbaker of Region 3 in Richland Township, Richard Herko of Region 1 in Pine Township and Treasurer Dennis Sundo of Region 2 in Pine and Richland Townships were re-elected in November.

Patrick Clair, Esq., administered the oath for newly elected and re-elected school directors.

Other board members include: A. Robert Necciai, Therese Dawson, Aafke Loney, Kevin Nigh and Scott Stedeford.

The board appointed Dawson as legislative representative to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association for 2010.

The board appointed Loney as representative to the Northern Area Special Purpose Schools joint committee for a two-year term and Hawbaker as an alternate.

The board appointed Sundo as the School Board’s Representative to the Pine Township Parks and Recreation Board.

The board appointed the firm of Goehring, Rutter and Boehm as solicitor of the Pine-Richland School District for a one-year term.

The board approved that the board would meet the second and fourth Mondays of the month and one board meeting in July on July 12.

All meetings will be held in the Administration Building’s DeWitt Blank Conference Room at 7:30 p.m.

Eckles Architect Cassie Reddinger gave an update on the PRHS expansion project.

Student Activities
The board approved the Pine-Richland High School band trip to Norfolk, VA, April 30-May 1, 2010 to perform in the Azalea Parade as presented. The trip is student funded.
