Art Teacher Honored as Distinguished Art Teacher
Pine-Richland High School Art Teacher Ramon Riley is one of only 14 teachers from around the country to be recognized by the Maryland Institute of College of Art (MICA) as a “Distinguished High School Art Teacher”.
In honor of the recognition, Riley has been invited to attend an all expense paid “Teacher Fly-in Program” in Baltimore, MD. The program will include a showcase of MICA, tour of their MICA studios and tours of local museums April 14-17. Riley will participate in an idea exchange session, where he’ll present information about PRHS and his teaching philosophy. He was the only PA teacher to be selected to participate in the exchange.
Several Pine-Richland students have earned scholarship awards in the past seven years from MICA. They include: Andrew Kim, Aimee Manion, Alyse Poole and Jess Somers. During that period of time, seven students from PRHS have been accepted to the PA Governor’s School for the Arts.
Riley credits other staff and administrators for the success of the students and the program.
