PRHS Girls Tennis Duo Earn School’s
First WPIAL Tennis Championship
Pine-Richland High School sophomore Taylor Perz and senior Olivia Heim won the WPIAL Championship in Girl ’s Doubles on Oct. 9, 2009 at Greensburg Racquet Club. The WPIAL tournament began Oct. 8, 2009 at Norwin High School. Click here for details.

Senior Earns Rowing Scholarship
PRHS Senior Ashley Wright was awarded an annual rowing scholarship of $10,000 from Robert Morris University, a Division I program, where she will attend in the fall.
PR Inline Hockey Association Tryouts
The Pine-Richland Inline Hockey Association is looking for skaters for the 2009-2010 season. There are two tryout dates available Sunday, May 31, 2009 and Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Players must arrive at least one half hour prior to tryout time and have all required equipment. Players must attend at least one of the tryout sessions. Mandatory Field Hockey Meeting
Current and prospective field hockey players in grades 8-11 and their parents are asked to attend a mandatory meeting on May 18, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the High School LGI Room. Coaches will review the summer conditioning program, team camp expectations, tryouts and pre-season, and the fall game schedule. JUNIORS are asked to arrive by 6:30 p.m. for a brief meeting beforehand.

for Six Games in Four Days
All Pine-Richland School students, parents, teachers and staff are invited to a week of great boys’ high school lacrosse with six games beginning on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. PRHS Girls Basketball Team Qualifies for WPIAL Playoffs
The PRHS Girls Basketball Team recently qualified for the WPIAL playoffs by finishing fourth in Section 3 with a 6-6 section record.
The PR Lady Rams, coached by PR teacher Joe Frank, will play the McKeesport Lady Tigers in the preliminary round on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. at Fox Chapel High School. Click here for directions to Fox Chapel High School.
Tickets are on sale in the Athletic Office all week and will be available in the cafeteria on Friday. Cost is $4 pre-sale and $6 at the door.

PRHS Hockey Team & North Star Special Olympic Team
to Play Floor Hockey
Come cheer on the North Star Special Olympic Team and the Pine-Richland Hockey Team, as they play Floor Hockey at Pine-Richland High School in the main gymnasiums Saturday, Feb. 14 at 3:30 p.m. This is the 11 th season for the program. The teams will play each other and Bishop Canevin. Admission is free. Refreshments will be available for purchase. PRHS is located at 700 Warrendale Road in Gibsonia.
Junior Named PIHL/Pittsburgh Penguins December Player of Month
Pine-Richland High School junior Bryan Watt was named the PIHL and Pittsburgh Penguins December Ice Hockey Player of the Month. Watt earned this award for his tremendous efforts during the month of December. Bryan averaged three points per game, including a six-point game against Seneca Valley. He is the leading scorer for the varsity ice hockey team. While only one player can earn this award every month, coaches agree that the whole team deserves to be congratulated for a well-played season.

PR Dance Team to Host Workshop
The PR Dance Team is hosting a workshop on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 4-6 p.m. to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. PR Cheerleading Competition Team Takes First Place in State Competition
The Pine-Richland Cheerleading Competition Team earned first place at the Pennsylvania State Championships at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, PA on Nov. 15, 2008. Coach Danielle DeRenzo says the team was named PA State Champs in the small varsity division and Best Overall Team topping other Quad A teams such as Shaler and North Allegheny. Several PRHS Senior Girls Receive Soccer Recognition
Congratulations to several senior Pine-Richland Girls Soccer Players. Tori Pikur was named to All-Section. Christie Kimball was named to All-Section and All-WPIAL, and Katie Wise was named to All-Section, All-WPIAL and All-State. Coach Jodi Chmielewski says Wise is one of only 12 players in the WPIAL to be named all-state. This is the second year in the row for Wise to receive this honor and the second Pine-Richland player to ever be honored for all-state twice.
PR Crew Ready for Winter Competitions
The Pine-Richland Crew is preparing for the Pittsburgh Indoor Sprints to be held January 31, 2009. The rowing team has concluded its fall season with success. Most recently, the Men's Novice 4+ Boat and the Women's Novice Four + Boat each captured the gold at the "Pull-the-Plug" Regatta held November 2, 2008 on the Erie Canal in Pittsford NY. PRHS Girls Volleyball Team Moves on in PIAA Quarterfinals
Congratulations to the Pine-Richland High School Girls Volleyball Team for beating Erie McDowell 3-0 in the first round of the PIAA State Championship Tournament in Erie. The team now plays in the PIAA Quarterfinals on Friday, November 7, 2008. Click here for details.

Crew Places Nationally
The Pine-Richland High School Women’s Junior 4+ Rowing Team placed 10th overall and the women’s junior 2x team placed 12th overall in the Scholastic Rowing Association of America’s National Championship Regatta in Oakridge, TN May 23 and May 24, 2008. Crew Head Coach Florin Curuea says this event is the highest accomplishment attainable by a high school rowing team. There were 23 teams from six other regions across the country that also qualified and competed. Click here for complete details.
Hockey Team Names New Head Coach
The Pine-Richland Hockey Team has a new head coach today. On May 20, 2008, the team approved Matthew Richert to lead the Pine-Richland Hockey Rams. This will be Matthew Richert’s third year with the team. Richert has coached more than 20 teams ranging from amateur to NCAA Division I over his nine-year coaching career. Click here for details.
Seniors Newest Members of PSU Lionettes
Two Pine-Richland High School seniors are the newest members of the Penn State Dance Team. Both Ashley Hinson and Natalie Sarver tried out for the Division I Penn State Lionettes and earned a spot. Nearly 73 students from all around tried out for a spot, but only 26 made the team. More details…
Junior Takes Eleventh in State in Triple Jump Setting School Record
Pine-Richland High School eleventh grader Katie Wise took eleventh in the women’s triple jump at the PA State Track & Field Championship Meet at Shippensburg University on May 24, 2008. She recorded a jump of 36’11 1/2”. Coach Brian Devinney says this is a personal best for Wise and a new school record.
