PRHS Students Earn Silver in PIAA Doubles Tennis

Pine-Richland High School senior Olivia Heim and sophomore Taylor Perz took second place in the PIAA Doubles Tournament Nov. 6-7, 2009. The girls earned a silver medal in AAA Girls Doubles Tennis. On Oct. 9, the duo earned a WPIAL in girls’ tennis, the first time in school history. The two are coached by Janet Chappell. Congratulations to the girls and their coach.

PRHS Girls Tennis Duo Earn School’s
First WPIAL Tennis Championship

Pine-Richland High School sophomore Taylor Perz and senior Olivia Heim won the WPIAL Championship in Girl’s Doubles on Oct. 9, 2009 at Greensburg Racquet Club. The WPIAL tournament began Oct. 8, 2009 at Norwin High School.

The duo won three matches on Oct. 8 to make it into the finals. They came back from a 2 to 5 deficit in the third set to beat Peter’s Township.

This is the first time in school history that Pine-Richland has earned a championship in the WPIALs in girls’ tennis.

The pair, who are coached by Janet Chappell, will compete in the PIAA doubles tournament November 6 & 7 in Hershey, PA.

Perz and Heim earned the title of section champions on Oct. 1 at North Allegheny School District on Oct. 1, 2009.
