«Top of the Class
The Most Challenging High Schools Index ranked Pine-Richland High School #1 in Allegheny County, #8 in PA and#817 in the US in 2019. PRHS ranks in the top 4% of the 22,000 Most Challenging High Schools in the US.
US News & World Report ranked Pine-Richland High School seventh in Allegheny County and 21st in the state in its “Top High School” rankings for 2019. In addition, the report ranks PRHS at 794 out of 17,245 public schools across the U.S. Criteria used include state math and reading scores, graduation rates, and the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work using advanced placement exam data as a benchmark.
The Pittsburgh Business Times ranks PRSD number 8 out of 105 school districts in the region and 30th in the state in its 2019 list of rankings.
- The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Division of Federal Programs honored Hance Elementary School for being named a Title I Distinguished School for 2018-2019 because it ranked in the top five percent of Title I Schools in Pennsylvania based on aggregate math and English language arts scores on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments.
- Eden Hall Upper Elementary School was named a U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School, one of only three named in PA in 2019. This distinction acknowledged EH’s commitment to sustainable practices and leadership in facilities, health, and environmental education. Wexford Elementary School earned the distinction in 2018.
- Hance Elementary School was named to the 2019 Pennsylvania Healthy Schools Honor Roll. Schools named to the honor roll are recognized for taking strides to create a green and healthy learning environment for their school and community.
- Eden Hall Upper Elementary School received the SupportMusic Merit Award from the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation for its commitment to music education and the arts by providing innovative learning opportunities for a well-rounded education in 2019.
