Dear Students and Families (6th & 7th Grade):
As we begin our second semester, it is time to focus on scheduling for the 2020-2021 school year. Our 2020-2021 Program of Studies
is available for families and students through our website
. Within the document, you will find essential information detailing curricular offerings, key contacts, course selection, and scheduling. In addition, we have included a section on Career Education and Work Standards. This is an area of focus for the district as we work to help all students identify their plans after high school. We encourage you to use this as a guide throughout the scheduling process.
In the coming months, your child will bring home a scheduling request form and letter, which will contain specific details about the middle school scheduling process. Once you receive the letter and form, please review this information with your student and return the form to your child's homeroom teacher as soon as possible.
The specific dates for distribution and collection of forms are as follows:
March 2, 2020
Forms listing recommended courses for current seventh-grade students will be mailed home.
March 9 (Deadline)
Current seventh-graders will return signed forms to homeroom teachers.
Middle school counselors will meet with current sixth-graders at Eden Hall to discuss the scheduling process and middle school courses. Students will bring home a scheduling letter and form asking them to choose academic support or a performing arts course (band, orchestra, chorus).
March 16 (Deadline)
Current sixth graders return signed forms to homeroom teacher.
Forms listing core academic courses and performing arts choice will be mailed home to current sixth graders.
April 14 at 6 p.m. & April 16 at 10 a.m.
A sixth-grade parent orientation will be held at the middle school. Parents only need to attend one of the sessions.
May 26 & 27
Current sixth-grade students will travel from Eden Hall to the middle school for tours and an informational session.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and we look forward to working with you.
