    The College Board Opportunity Scholarships program guides juniors and seniors through the college planning process while they earn scholarships for each action they complete.

    The Office of Admissions at the University of Pittsburgh has announced two prestigious scholarships that are available only to qualified entering freshmen who reside in Pennsylvania: The Stamps Scholarship and the Nordenberg Leadership Scholars Program.  Seniors should start their the PA Scholars Application today! Deadline: December 1, 2019.
    First Commonwealth Bank is offering high school seniors an opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship. Essay is required. Applications are available in the Guidance Office or click here for additional information and an application. Deadline: March 2, 2020
    The Bon Tool Company has announced the $2,000 Carl A. Bongiovanni Vo-Tech Scholarship for students looking to further their education in one of the trades. Additional information and applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 17, 2020
    Each year the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of higher education in diverse areas of study, including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, elementary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science and English.  Deadline: February 15, 2020 Click here to access the application and for scholarship criteria.
    Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is now available at jackierobinson.org. The JRF application is the vehicle through which more than 4,000 talented young minority high school students apply to become JRF Scholars and carry on the civic-minded legacy of the Foundation’s namesake, Jackie Robinson. The deadline to submit an application is February 1, 2020.  
    Jim Borden Memorial Scholarship: Trib Total Media has created a scholarship to honor the late Jim Borden, who served as managing editor of the Tribune-Review. The company will give up to $30,000 paid in $7,500 annual installments to one student every year, along with a guaranteed yearly internship with Trib Total Media and an offer of full-time employment upon graduation. Students who live in Southwestern Pennsylvania and study journalism, English writing or communication are eligible to apply.     Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices has launched its inaugural Trade School and College Scholarship program called Dream...Innovate...Grow. Three renewable scholarships valued up to $4,000 ($1,000 per academic year) will be awarded to three qualified individuals. Applications are available in Guidance or Naviance. Deadline: January 3, 2020
    2018 Miracle League of Southwestern PA Scholarship: One scholarship available for a graduating senior who has been involved in the Miracle League. Application information is available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 16, 2018

    Floyd L. Johnston Scholarhip is available to students who are entering college as a business administration major or related field. Applicants must have attended Pine-Richland High School for 10th, 11th and 12th grades. Applicants must be involved in school/community activities and/or employed and also must have a minimum cumulative QPA of 2.75. Complete applications must be turned into the Guidance Office.     The Bernie Matthews Opportunity Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Bernie Matthews Opportunity Foundation Scholarship seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity or other difficult life circumstances, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. Click here to access the application.     The Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund Scholarship (PROF) application window opens on March 4th for graduating seniors. The Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund is offering 20 unique scholarships, totaling approximately $43,500, thanks to the generosity of several community members and organizations.     Junior Scholarship Opportunity: The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study and leadership training. This one-of-a-kind scholarship may be used at any accredited college or university in the U.S. Deadline: January 16, 2020

    Sallie Mae Make College Happen Challenge Contest. Open to high school students 14-18 years of age. Students are challenged to creatively answer the question: How do you plan to pay for college? Entries can be in the form of a photo, video, poem, song, essay, etc. First prize: $15,000. Complete contest details can be found on their website 
    PSECU Scholarship: Students who are members or who plan on becoming members of PSECU will have the opportunity to apply for one of six $8,000 scholarships. The student must be a member by December 31, 2016. A complete list of of organizations and businesses that qualify is available online. Download an application here.     The Epilepsy Foundation of Western Pennsylvania has announced three $1,500 and eight $1,000 scholarships for students that have epilepsy or a seizure disorder. Students must meet the minimum requirements. Interested seniors should see Mrs. Whalen in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 1, 2020

    The Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students that exhibit integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue an education. Plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution; Critical financial need. Proof of family income; Involvement in co-curricular and community activities; Demonstrate academic achievement with a GPA of at least 2.00 Students guidance counselor must complete a certification form.     The Pearce Law Firm in Philadelphia is pleased to offer The Pearce Law Firm – Aspiring Pennsylvania Attorneys Scholarship. This scholarship opportunity is open to high school students in the state of Pennsylvania who have been accepted to a college or university and have aspirations of attending law school after college.     Wendy’s Restaurants are pleased to announce the 2019 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award which honors student athletes who excel in the classroom, on the playing field, and within their school and community. To be eligible, students must have a cumulative QPA of 3.0 or higher and participate in at least one of 43 eligible school-sponsored sports.     Veterans of Foreign Wars & Ladies Auxiliary - Voice of Democracy Scholarship: Students compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on an annual patriotic theme.     Western PA Golf Association Scholarships: Employees for at least two seasons at Member Clubs of the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association are eligible. This includes employees in the clubhouse, golf shop, golf course, swimming pool or tennis courts. This scholarship is available for high school seniors or students in their freshman or sophomore years in college. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.8 in college.     The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards program was established to raise awareness among the nation's youth of the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America.  Students are encouraged to apply for our awards beginning October 1, 2016. Applicants MUST be running their own small business in order to be considered for an award. Applications can be found at: www.nfib.com/YEA Deadline: December 18, 2016.

    The Benjamin Franklin Scholar Award is open to public high school students in Pennsylvania in their junior year. This award will provide three prizes: first place $6,000; second place $4,000, and third place $2,000.  Students must write an essay of not more than 750 words.     2020 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program: This scholarship program annually rewards up to 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships (up to $40,000 per recipient). Please visit the website for an application and additional criteria. Deadline: January 3, 2020.

    National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame: Each year, the NIASHF awards several scholarships to deserving student/athletes. The requirements for the scholarship are as follows: high academic achievement, financial need, athletic ability at the varsity level, anticipated June 2019 graduation. Applications are available here. Deadline: January 31, 2019.

    The Jewish Scholarship Service of Greater Pittsburgh coordinates the efforts of a group of organizations, agencies and scholarship endowment funds that provide scholarships to local Jewish students enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education that demonstrate financial need.     ACT College and Career Readiness Student Champion: Applications are now open for The ACT College and Career Readiness Student Champion. The ACT Champion is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and a plan in place. A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions. Applications are available for seniors here. Deadline:October 31, 2018

    PACAC Scholarship: The PACAC Scholarships are each a one-year non-renewable scholarship for high school seniors graduating from PACAC member high schools. This scholarship is intended to support a student's goal of continuing his or her education. Multiple scholarships will be awarded in April 2018.  The top recipient will receive the $1,500 Scholarship in memory of one of our PACAC founding fathers, Benjamin James.  The other three recipients will receive a $1,000 Scholarship.     In order to recognize, support, and encourage the young people of our country who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the cause of positive race relations, Princeton University annually sponsors an annual awards program for high school students—the Princeton Prize in Race Relations.  Deadline: January 31, 2020

    Pennsylvania JCI Senate Scholarship Program: Each year, the U.S. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation grants $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. The number of grants awarded annually is at the discretion of the Foundation and must be used for educational expenses in the first year of full-time study. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and the educational institution of the recipient’s choice. Scholarship is available on their website. Deadline: TBA 

    Hermine Solt Student Scholarship: The Pennsylvania Association of Educational Office Professionals' Student Scholarship Fund was established in 1992 for the purpose of aiding students in Pennsylvania to pursue higher education in a business-related field. Scholarships of $500 each will be offered to students who meet the requirements.     The Gates Millennium Scholarship was established in 1999 to provide outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate degree. Criteria includes: Pell Grant eligible through FAFSA form; Demonstrate leadership; 3.3 minimum GPA. Applications are available on their website at: www.gmsp.org.  Deadline: TBA

    Applications for the Ambrose Smith Memorial Scholarship are now available in the Guidance Office. This scholarship is for children and grandchildren of American Legion Post 161 members in good standing. Deadline: April 15, 2018

    Buick Achievers Scholarship Program: Scholarship recipients are selected based on the following factors: Academic achievement, financial need, participation and leadership in community and school activities, work experience, educational and career goals, and unusual circumstances, and be interested in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industries.      $1,000 Finn Chiropractic Scholarship: This scholarship is available to high school seniors who are pursuing a degree in health, wellness, or fitness related programs of study. The requirements are included on our website and in the online application.  Applications are available online at http://www.finnchiro.com/specials-upcoming-events/ .     The Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh Scholarship: This scholarship is available to high school seniors enrolled in high schools in Allegheny and Washington Counties.  To be eligible, students must be enrolled and accepted to study astronomy, physics, or mathematics.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 1, 2020

    Edgar Snyder Words To Be Heard Scholarship: High school seniors who will be attending a technical school, two-year, or four-year college or university are encouraged to participate. Submit your idea for a presentation that would discourage your peers from dangerous driving behaviors. You can focus on drunk driving, texting while driving, or any other form of distracted driving. The presentation can be a video, website, essay, brochure, or some other option that you come up with on your own. Be as creative as you'd like! All items must be mailed together.     Deloitte has announced the Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship for high school junior student athletes. Eligibility Requirements: Current High School Junior (class of 2018) -Grade Point Average of 2.5 or above -Current resident of the United States of America -Participant in individual or team sport sponsored by school or local club.  Criteria:  A Triple-Impact Competitor® makes positive contributions on three levels: 1. Makes oneself better (Personal Mastery); 2. Makes teammates better (Leadership); and 3. Makes the sport better (Honoring the Game). Deadline: TBA

     Applications for the Generation Google Scholarship are now open. Seniors that exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for computer science and technology, exhibit a strong record of academic achievement, be a student from an underrepresented group are encouraged to apply.     Ohio State Student Scholarship: The Ohio State Alumni Club of Pittsburgh would like to inform you of an excellent opportunity for any student interested in attending The Ohio State University beginning fall semester of 2017.  We will be awarding two (2) $2000 scholarships to deserving students.  If you know any student applying to Ohio State, or considering Ohio State as an option to pursue their undergraduate education, please direct them to the OSUACP website at http://pittsburghbuckeyes.alumni.osu.edu/ in order to apply. Please note: All applications and transcripts must be received by TBA.     The Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation has announced the 2017 Landmarks Scholarship Award. This scholarship is awarded to at least one student in Allegheny County who is interested in the history, architecture, and landscape design of the Pittsburgh region. Students must answer the essay question: "Please tell us about a place in Allegheny County that is important to you. Briefly explain the significance of the history, architecture, and/or landscape design of the place. Then, focus on how the place has affected you personally."     The Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers has established The PACB Scholarship. High school seniors who are a dependent child of either an employee or director of a PACB member institution are eligible. See Mrs. Whalen in the Guidance Office for an application. Deadline: February 11, 2017.

     The Constance T. Rockwell Scholarship Program for the Theater Arts will be awarding scholarships to students who plan on attending an accredited college or conservatory that offers a four-year program in theater or performance arts. Please stop by the guidance office for an application with additional criteria. Each semi-finalist will be invited to audition. Minimum award amount is $4000. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 20, 2018

     North Hills Ebony Women, Inc. is pleased to announce the Norma Jean Ware Duncan Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to an African American senior student who has been accepted and plans to enroll in college for the fall of 2019. Criteria for selection will be based on a GPA of 2.8 or greater, essay, letters of recommendation, community service, and extra-curricular activities.     The Greater Pittsburgh Football Officials Association has announced the Harry Quinn-Ralph Schorr Memorial Scholarship. The individual need not be a football player; however, they must be involved in football in some way. This would include a team manager, trainer, a cheerleader, a band member, or some other similar activity. Additional criteria and applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 20, 2019

     The Pennsylvania Association of Medical Suppliers (PAMS) is pleased to announce that we will once again award a $1,000.00 scholarship to a deserving student who has overcome physical challenges with the help of home medical equipment and supplies. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: March 23, 2018

    Through its Women In Nuclear (WIN) chapter, Westinghouse Electric Company is offering a $5,000 scholarship to a female high school senior graduating in Spring of 2019 from a Pittsburgh area school.  The candidate must intend to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or physical sciences at an accredited college or university.      The Pittsburgh Rotary Club Foundation has announced their annual scholarship program. This program will award six $1,500 one-time scholarships to seniors in Allegheny County who have applied to college. Seniors should check the Pittsburgh Rotary Club website or their Naviance accounts for additional criteria and an application. Completed applications are due by March 09, 2018.

     Applications for the Pittsburgh Italian Scholarship are now available online. This scholarship is for students of Italian heritage who demonstrate financial need and excellent academic performance. Some local colleges have established a matching scholarship fund. Deadline: April 6, 2020

     The Audubon Society has announced the Beulah Frey Environmental Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors who are interested in furthering their studies in an environmentally-related field. Applications are available on their website at www.aswp.org.  Deadline: May 3, 2019

     The Phi Sigma Pi national co-educational honors fraternity at the University of Pittsburgh is offering a one-time gift to students who plan to continue their education at a university or college. Interested students should fill out an application and submit an essay by (TBA). Applications and essay requirements are available in the Guidance Office. 

     The Robert "Cubby" Bearer Memorial Scholarship recognizes an Eagle Scout from Western Pennsylvania who is enrolled (or plans to enroll) at the University of Pittsburgh and who has demonstrated high character, leadership ability, and financial need. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Please see Mrs. Whalen. Deadline: March 26, 2018

     Applications for the Continental Building Systems Charities Scholarship are now available online to candidates who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Candidates must enroll in a 4-year, post-secondary educational institution. Recipients will be chosen based on financial need, academics and character. Additional eligibility requirements and applications are available online. Deadline: March 1, 2017

     The Pennsylvania Land Surveyors' Foundation Scholarship is available to students intending to pursue an education in surveying with an ultimate goal of becoming a practicing Professional Land Surveyor. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: TBA  

     The Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation is proud to offer students who are Hispanic/Latino or of Hispanic/Latino descent scholarships for the 2016-2017 scholastic year. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. All completed applications with required documents must be received by April 30, 2018 

    The National Federation of the Blind has a large and prestigious scholarship program whose awards are made solely to persons who are legally blind or visually impaired. Deadline: March 31, 2018

    The Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Pennsylvania is pleased to announce a scholarship program for students pursuing degrees in Plumbing, HVAC, Engineering or Construction related fields of study. The MCA of Western Pennsylvania will recognize four (4) outstanding students by awarding each a $1,000.00 scholarship. The program will award a total of four (4) $1,000.00 scholarships. These scholarships are available to students attending two or four year programs at accredited colleges, universities, and technical schools.     Coca Cola Scholars Program:  To reinforce the Coca-Cola system's legacy of community support while enhancing educational opportunities through scholarship awards and enrichment programs for people who demonstrate their commitment to making a difference in the world.     Prudential Spirit of the Community Award: Online applications are available at http://spirit.prudential.com Once the form has been completed, it must be submitted to the principal. Pine-Richland may then nominate up to two top youth. Deadline: November 05, 2019

    PMHF Community Scholarship: Applications are now available in the Guidance Office for the Jamie Ellenberger Scholarship Program. Scholarship award is $10,000. Criteria: community service, essay, academic honors, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, interview, etc.  Deadline: April 24, 2020
