The Pine-Richland High School expansion project was in the works for many years.
The school board approved the Pine-Richland High School Expansion Committee on Oct. 16, 2007 and the expansion project was completed in the summer of 2012. The committee was made up of administrators, teachers, board members, students and community members.
The district was pleased to attract an excellent cross-section of staff and community members. Their diversity and expertise provided the foundation for the committee, which helped address the schools needs and any associated challenges. In all, 22 community members, 15administrators and other staff members and seven students served on the committee. After much discussion and research, the committee developed a report which addressed the needs of a growing student body. Some of the criteria the group addressed were personalization and rigor, global competitiveness, college readiness, safety and security, cost effectiveness and a stimulating learning design.
