    ACTIVITY PERIOD: Today we will be following an Activity Period bell schedule.     CHESS TOURNAMENT: Penn Trafford High School is hosting an interschool chess tournament on Wednesday, February 22nd during the school day. Participation is limited, so if you would like to participate, you should email Dr. Poole or Mr. Caric by this Friday to register for a playoff event, which will determine the PR representatives at the Penn Trafford tournament.


    WINTER FORMAL DANCE: The high school will be holding a Winter Formal Dance on February 4th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The dance will be a wintery version of homecoming. Come with a group of friends, or a date. It is up to you. For this evening of dancing and fun, wear business casual attire such as dress pants, sweaters, or semi-formal dresses. Tickets can be purchased before school in the PRHS Front Lobby. Tickets cost $20 until this Friday. Ticket prices will increase to $25 from January 30th through February 1st, so be sure to buy your tickets early.     GSA: There will be a Gay Straight Alliance meeting today from 2:45 to 3:45 in the Steam LGI. Be sure to bring your friends for lots of fun.

    WINTER FORMAL KING: Voting for the Winter Formal King will open on Tuesday, January 31st at 7:00 a.m. and close Wednesday, February 1st at noon. The second round is open to all high school students and the ballot will be sent to your school email address.  


    PRTV CLUB: The next meeting for the PRTV Club will take place Tuesday, January 31st after school in room 328. Items on the agenda will be production of the next episode of Ramtastic and production for the DMAC Film Festival category. Any student interested in joining the club should join the club’s Google Classroom at the classroom code fhvnfpo.


    RAMTASTIC: Students, be on the lookout for an e-mail that will be sent to you this morning from Mr. Koehler, asking you to complete the new fun poll which will be revealed on today’s episode of Ramtastic. By completing the fun poll, you become part of each episode of Ramtastic.


    THEME DAY THURSDAY: Today’s theme is 80’s. The next theme day, Thursday, will take place on Thursday, February 9th with the theme Monochrome Day, when you wear one color.




    COLLEGE FAIR: Thursday, February 9, 2023, is a school-excused absence day for junior students only who submit their signed Family Educational Tour or College Visit Form by February 8, 2023 and complete their Pittsburgh National College Fair Exit Survey in Naviance. Families can find the permission form in Sapphire and the Pittsburgh College Fair Exit Survey in Naviance. Juniors can locate their survey by logging into Naviance, and going to About MeSurveys From My School: Pittsburgh National College Fair Exit Survey. The survey is due February 10, 2023. Younger students are encouraged to attend the fair in the evening, sign-up for a virtual fair, or go during junior year.     A.W. BEATTIE FIELD TRIP: Ninth and 10th grade students interested in attending the Beattie Career Center field trip on Tuesday, January 31st from 7:30 -10:30 a.m. need to return a completed permission dorm to the School Counseling Office by Friday, January 27.  Students can pick up the permission form in the school counseling office. A parent/guardian signature is required.  Please see your school counselor if you have any questions.


    The FBI will be visiting PRHS on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, during 2nd and 3rd periods, to speak with interested students about a potential career with the FBI. This opportunity is open to all students in grades 9-12. Interested students need to sign up in Naviance and pick which period they would like to attend. Students who attend will be responsible for making up any missed classroom work. Questions? Please see Mrs. Whalen in the School Counseling Office.


    You are cordially invited to attend Virtual College Planning Night on Wednesday, February 1st at 7:00 pm. This event is open to all students and their families who are looking to start the college search process. Ms. Winge will provide an overview of the college admissions process. A question-and-answer period will follow. Registration is required. Click on the QR code found on your screen to register.     UNIFIED BOCCE: Today the team will take on Hampton at home. The match starts at 3:30 p.m. in the main gym.


    CHEERLEADING: Today the Competitive Spirit team will be leaving to compete in the PIAA State Championships in Hershey. The competition will be held at the Giant Center today, tomorrow, and Saturday. Today around 1:40 PRHS is going to have a sendoff for the team, by forming a tunnel in the main lobby. Teachers, please let Dr. Hernandez know if you plan to bring your class down to be a part of the tunnel.


    SWIMMING & DIVING: The Pine-Richland Swim & Dive team will take on North Allegheny tonight at 5:00 p.m. This is a home meet. Student tickets are $3.


    GIRL’S BASKETBALL: Tonight, the Varsity and JV teams will be at Hempfield Area. JV plays at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Varsity game at 7:30 p.m.


    ICE HOCKEY: Tonight, the Varsity and the JV-1 teams will be in action. Varsity will face Upper Saint Clair at home. The puck drops at 9:00 p.m. at the Baierl Ice Complex. The JV-1 team will be at Central Catholic. The puck drops at 9:40 p.m. at the Alpha Ice Complex.
