Challenge Overview

  • PRTV wants to know if you are up for a challenge, a 48 Hour Film Challenge, that is.
    The second annual 48 Hour Film Challenge, presented by the PRTV Club, hopes you are. The contest challenges students in grades K-12 to write, shoot, edit and share a video in only 48 hours! The video MUST include a prop, a character, and a genre.  Those prompts will be released, via a video on the PRTV Archive You Tube channel, at 5pm on April 29, 2022. Teams will have until May 1, 2022 at 5pm to upload their final video to Google Drive, or YouTube.

Challenge Rules

    • Registration
    • Payment
      • There is a $20 participation fee, per team
      • Cash or check (made out to PRTV Club) is accepted
        • Can be mailed to Mr. Koehler at 700 Warrendale Rd, Gibsonia, PA 15044 (or)
        • Dropped off at the Pine-Richland High School
      • We cannot submit your video for judges' consideration without payment
      • Payments are due no later than Friday, April 29, 2022

    • Contest Rules
      • On April 29, 2022 at 5 p.m., a video will be uploaded to the  PRTV Archive YouTube channel and also emailed to captains.  It will contain the short film prompt. The prompt will include a prop, a character, and a genre. The three elements MUST be included in your final video. The prop must advance the plot/be interacted with by a character. For example, if the prop is a stapler, it will not count if there is a stapler on the desk in the scene. It will count if your character is stapling important documents.
      • You will have until May 1, 2022 at 5 PM to do the following:
        • Write a script
        • Shoot footage
        • Record Audio
        • Edit
        • Upload your final film to Google Drive, or YouTube and submit
      • Prior to the challenge, you are permitted to:
        • Gather equipment
        • Create a team schedule
        • Location scout
      • You must follow copyright rules within your video.
        • Music must be original, royalty free, or have proof of permission to use.
        • All visual content must be original and created by you and your team during the 48 hours.
      • Each team will be assigned a number via email on the April 27th. When uploading, or sharing your video please name your file: 48hfc_groupnumber (ex. 48hfc_8).
      • Films must be between 2 to 5 minutes.
      • Any video submitted after 5 PM on May 1st will not be considered for awards.

    • Additional Information
      • Films will be considered for best directing, writing, editing, cinematography, and in show
        • A $100 gift card will be awarded to the best in show short film
      • All entries into the 48 Hour Film Challenge will also be entered into the 2022 Rammy Awards.
        • The winner of the 48 Hour Film Challenge will be announced during the Rammy Awards Show on May 20th.
