• Collage 2Eden Hall Discovery Center

Eden Hall Upper Elementary School, in 2019, was named a US Department of Education Green Ribbon School. As we look to further enhance our initiatives in sustainability, focus on continuous improvement, and provide diverse opportunities, both in and outside the classroom, we are working to provide an innovative outdoor learning center (EHUE Discovery Center) for our students and staff.

This outdoor center, later to be renamed through a voting process for students, will have, as its emphasis, a large pavilion area to be used for large group instruction.

Added components of the proposed project will eventually include several smaller gazebo-style shelters to be used for small-group learning centers, butterfly gardens, and other resources to be used innovatively to enhance learning for our students.

Partnerships

  • “Allowing the students a chance to learn in an outdoor space that is conducive to learning for multiple disciplines not only naturally stimulates a mindful environment for learning, but it also allows for new inspiration and movement that is not always available in the physical, brick-and-mortar classroom.” - Teacher Katelynn Tronetti

We anticipate a phased approach as we design and ultimately implement a project of this magnitude. The Eden Hall PTO has committed to providing funding and the Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund (PROF) has approved a grant in the amount of $5,000 to help support this project. Through PROF’s crowdfunding partner, Flipcause, we are hoping to raise funds to be used solely for this project that, in total, will cost roughly $110,000. We are hoping to secure funding from local businesses, community partners, and the general public to help provide this innovative learning center for our students. If you would like to contribute to this project, please use this link to connect to PROF’s Flipcause site.

Volunteer

  • As a key stakeholder in our community, you can assist by providing professional services, donations, and/or educational consultation that fosters and enriches sustainability.  Please consider completing this survey to volunteer as a member of our Learning Center Development Committee.

The support of our community and local businesses will be instrumental as we focus on building an innovative learning center for all students on the Eden Hall campus.  As Eden Hall is the only building that serves our student population in grades 4-6, each student will have the opportunity to engage in this unique learning environment.  We are certain this center will impact the learning of our students by providing real-world experiences throughout each academic year.
