Activity Fee

Extracurricular activities and interscholastic athletics are an important part of the educational experience for students. In an effort to preserve those opportunities and help offset the cost of program delivery, the Pine-Richland School District assesses an activity fee for student participation in all interscholastic sports and specific extracurricular activities.
 
An activity fee is an amount established and approved by the board, which is assessed to district students in connection with and as a condition precedent to participating in extracurricular activities or activities as outlined in Policy 122 and Policy 123.
 
Payment of activity fees entitles students to participate in multiple activities throughout the current school year and is used to help offset the cost of the supplemental fees that the district pays to a sponsor or coach who oversees the program.
 
Every student is assessed a fee (except those who are approved for free/reduced meals). The fee will be removed at the end of the year if your child did not participate in programs subject to an activity fee. 

2026-2027 Student Activity Fees

Athletics Only    

  • $200 for first  
  • $150 for second  
  • $0 for third    

Band/Non-Athletics

  • $100 for first
  • $100 for second
  • $100 for third
  • $50 for fourth

All student activity fees will be limited to a $350 individual cap.

Fee Waiver

A fee waiver process exists for students who qualify for free and/or reduced lunch prices under federal law. Students who are experiencing other personal financial hardship may request a waiver and/or refund of any activity fee or fees. Parents/guardians will be asked to submit a confidential fee waiver request to their child(ren)’s school principal.

Payment Process

Parents can pay activity fees online or via check.

To pay online, visit SuccessFund. Choose Activity Fee. SuccessFund charges payers a processing fee for each transaction. 

When paying by check, write the check payable to the Pine-Richland School District. Include the student’s ID# along with the text “Student Activity/Athletic Fee” on the memo line. Deliver payment to the building office secretary or mail to your child's school. 

Upon receipt of payment, district personnel will update the student’s account. If a student joins another activity/team, their name will appear on the sponsor/coach's activity fee roster as “Paid in Full.”

Criteria for Assessing a Fee

The criteria used to determine whether an activity fee is assessed include the following:
 
  • Is there a supplemental contract associated with the activity?
    • If no = no fee
    • If yes:
  • Is community service the primary purpose of the organization?
    • If yes = no fee
    • If no = fee
Supplemental Contracts—Contracts provided to advisors/coaches as determined by the collective bargaining agreement between the Pine-Richland School District and the Pine-Richland Education Association.
 
Service Organizations—Organizations that engage in activities for the betterment of the community. The individual involved provides unpaid, voluntary work intended to improve the life for others at no personal reward. (Example: blood drive, collecting coats for charity and other items determined to be community service by the district administration).
