    Principal's Messages »

Ms. Jenna L. Sloan became the principal of Richland Elementary School in July 2020. Before joining the Pine-Richland School District, she served as principal of Norman A. Trimmer Elementary School in the West York Area School District. Ms. Sloan previously worked in the Susquehanna Township School District in Dauphin County as an assistant principal at both the middle school and elementary level from 2014-2017, and as a middle school ELA and special education teacher from 2008-2014. Her teaching career began at the Capital Area Intermediate Unit where she served as a long-term substitute in an autism support classroom, working with three students who are still very dear to her heart.

During Ms. Sloan’s time with West York and Susquehanna Township, she led in the areas of PBIS and MTSS, worked through departmentalizing grades 4 and 5 in two elementary buildings, as well as various curriculum initiatives. She values the many relationships she has built over the years, both with students and adults, and is honored to bring all she has learned to Richland Elementary School and the Pine-Richland School District. Ms. Sloan believes in the district mission, which drew her to Pine-Richland.

Ms. Sloan completed her master of education in teaching and curriculum as well as her K-12 principal certification from The Pennsylvania State University. During her principal certification program, she was awarded the H. Edgar Wisehaupt Outstanding Principal Award, given to students enrolled in the program “who demonstrate knowledge, skill, and leadership necessary to become an outstanding principal.” Ms. Sloan earned her bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a certificate in special education from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania.

During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing with and/or snuggling her dogs Ahmi, CeeJay, and Ziva, and traveling to tropical locations with her fiance. Her true passion for education is seeing people, both little and big, learn, collaborate and grow into their full potential.
