Dr. Miller Named PSLA 2026 Outstanding Administrator

Superintendent Dr. Brian Miller has been named the 2026 Outstanding School Administrator by the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association. This award honors school administrators outside of the library profession whose leadership makes a significant contribution to school library services and programs.
“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from PSLA,” said Dr. Miller. “We are very proud of our library department at Pine-Richland. In my prior district and here, it has always been my pleasure to partner with our librarians in supporting our students, staff and families.”
The Pennsylvania School Librarians Association’s Outstanding Administrator Award recognizes leaders who support strong school library programs and ensure flexible access to library resources, maintain certified library staffing and promote collaboration between librarians and instructional staff. Recipients demonstrate a commitment to including librarians in decision-making, supporting professional development and providing adequate funding and policy support. The award also recognizes administrators who model ethical information practices and champion safe, responsible learning.
The Pine-Richland Library Department and retired librarian Beth Shenefiel nominated Dr. Miller for this recognition.
“Rather than ‘chasing shiny objects,’ Dr. Miller leads with the question why? to intently listen to impactful practices and ensure that library policies and financial decisions align with the district's core mission," said Kelly Gustafson, Library Department chair and principal of Wexford Elementary School.
Dr. Miller will be formally recognized at the 52nd annual Pennsylvania School Librarians Association Conference on April 17.
