Students Honor Community Veterans on Veterans Day
Students celebrated veterans throughout the district today through assemblies, parades, breakfasts, classroom projects and other activities designed to honor veterans.
At Hance Elementary, students invited their veteran parents and grandparents to a special recognition breakfast followed by a parade through the school. Students at Richland Elementary invited veteran family members to an assembly and also launched their Fall Food Drive in partnership with Inspired Hearts and Hands.
At Pine-Richland High School, Pine-Richland-Mars Air Force Junior ROTC cadets hosted an assembly for students with guest speakers including PA State Rep. Rob Mercuri and Ron Schall, a Vietnam veteran. Both spoke about their military service and the meaning of Veterans Day to veterans. The assembly included recognition of veterans on staff as well as community veterans in attendance, an explanation of the POW/MIA Table, and a flag folding ceremony. Afterward, community veterans were invited to stay for breakfast with our JROTC cadets.
Thank you to all of our veterans!
