RAMS Way
The RAMS Way initiative is a district-wide system of positive behavioral supports and interventions to provide an intentional and preventative approach to improve upon a positive school climate. Procedural and behavioral expectations are intentionally communicated and taught at appropriate developmental levels from grades K-12.
The RAMS Way focuses on developing and improving positive behaviors through the use of common, developmentally appropriate language and expectations. RAMS Way spells out the acronym for a common set of behavioral expectations shared across the district:
Respectful
Accountable
Motivated
Safe
Students learn what it means to be Respectful, Accountable, Motivated, and Safe in various areas of each school building, including the cafeteria, hallways, bathrooms and the bus.
Expectations are developmentally modified for each grade span. The district trains building-level teams on roles and responsibilities. Team members work with other staff members to speak with students about appropriate behaviors specific to each building and individual environment (e.g., hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, bathrooms, attendance, and buses). All schools highlight individual incentive programs to acknowledge and reward positive behavior.
