The purpose of this message is to inform high school and middle school students and families about a message left on the TIPS Line tonight. The Northern Regional Police Department (NRPD) received a message that a high school student had allegedly made a comment about violence at the school. NRPD is investigating the matter and actively communicating with the high school administration. While we strive to provide clear and transparent communication, we cannot release more specific details as the investigation continues. Although the situation involves a high school student, we have addressed this message to both the middle school and high school given the shared campus.
School will continue on a regular schedule tomorrow. There will be an increased presence by NRPD at the high school and on the secondary campus.
We appreciate the reporting of concerns and use of our reporting line. The safety and security of our students and schools requires our collaboration, cooperation and communication. As a reminder, we encourage any members of our community to report any suspicious activity to the TIPS Line at 724-449-TIPS, which is monitored by Northern Regional Police.
No further communications are planned at this time. However, if the situation warrants, we will provide additional information.
