Pine-Richland Middle School Hires New Assistant Principal
Pine-Richland School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Nicole Berezo as the new assistant principal of Pine-Richland Middle School. The board approved her hiring at the August 21, 2023, regular meeting.
A Pine-Richland High School graduate, Ms. Berezo has taught fourth grade at Eden Hall Upper Elementary since 2017. For the last year, Ms. Berezo has served as a curriculum developer for the Neighborhood Meeting Framework Committee, supplementing the Neighborhood Meeting Framework with research-based curricula around kindness, gratitude and perseverance for over 100 students fostering whole-child learning and positive classroom environments. She has served as RAMS Way Committee leader since 2019, helping to improve Eden Hall’s positive behavioral interventions and supports system, and has been an active member of the building’s student assistance program team since 2021.
Ms. Berezo also was Pine-Richland’s cheerleading program director and varsity sideline head coach for five years where she collaborated with coaches and athletes on creating new spirit traditions to enhance the Ram-Fan experience. She fostered the concept of continuous improvement by providing opportunities for coaches to develop their skills through Varsity University seminars. She also worked with coaches and cheer alumni to host Pine-Richland's first-ever Collegiate Cheer Seminar.
“I am humbled and excited to be moving into the role of assistant principal at Pine-Richland Middle School,” said Ms. Berezo. “As a proud PRSD alumni, I have been deeply inspired by the educators, administrators and peers who have shaped my own educational journey. Together, with the PRMS staff and our exceptional community, I look forward to fostering an environment where students are empowered to reach their fullest potential and discover their own path to success.”
“We are so pleased to have Ms. Berezo join our secondary administrative team,” shared Dr. Pasquinelli, assistant superintendent for secondary education and curriculum. “Her love for working with students and desire to help our teachers grow and develop their instructional skills was evident throughout the interview process and was consistently observed during her time at Eden Hall.”
Ms. Berezo earned principal certification from Point Park University in 2020, an M.Ed. in special education from Slippery Rock University in 2017, and a B.S. in childhood and early adolescent education from Penn State University in 2016. She completed a primary principal internship at Eden Hall Upper Elementary and a secondary principal internship at North Allegheny Intermediate High School.
“Ms. Berezo will be a great asset to our students and staff and I look forward to her joining our middle school community,” said Dr. David Kristofic, Pine-Richland Middle School principal. “She has demonstrated a passion for building strong relationships with students, and she is committed to creating a positive school culture.”
In line with our commitment to students, Ms. Berezo’s start date will be dependent on the hiring and start date of her replacement at Eden Hall.
