Read Principal's March 25 Message

Dear Hance Families,

Reminder About Attendance
Now that we are well into the second half of the school year, we want to remind parents of our attendance policy. We know that consistent attendance has a direct, positive impact on student learning. Parents are only able to submit up to 10 parent excuses in one school year.  These absences include approved vacations and non-medically excused absences. Please contact your child’s school counselor or administrator if you have any questions about your child’s attendance. Medically excused absences are defined as absences which are approved by a medical provider. You can read more about the board policy on attendance at this link.

Volunteer for Lunch
Hance Elementary is offering a daily opportunity for volunteers to come to the school between 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to help out in the cafeteria.

Help Us Get Ready
As we prepare 3rd grade students for the PSSAs (April 25-27 & May 2-3), we are looking for several parent volunteers to assist on Friday, April 8, from 1-3:30 p.m. in helping us cover the hallway with messages and motivational stickers per PSSA protocols. Interested? please email me at gkuzilla@pinerichland.org.

  • Can you help? Interested in a behind-the-scene volunteer opportunities? Volunteers are needed to take these donated t-shirts to cut them into strips. This can be done at school or home. Interested? Contact klaslavic@pinerichland.org.
Bam the Ram - Home & School Connection
In order to encourage family involvement at school with our RAMS Way initiative, I wanted to offer the opportunity for parents and guardians again to submit tickets for positive behavior at home. As a way to create a home school connection, I have introduced Bam the RAM to students. Bam visits on Monday mornings to drop off a special RAMS Way glitter stickers as a special acknowledgement. Please utilize this online form to submit a positive referral to me so that Bam can leave an acknowledgement for your child on Monday mornings through the end of the school year.

Recycle & Upcycle Fashion Walk
We will be celebrating Earth Day during the month of April through the beginning of May. The Recycle and Upcycle Fashion Walk will be held on May 9, 2022.

This is a voluntary activity related to our green schools initiatives for the 2021-2022 school year. Students may work with parents at home to create a recycled fashion piece or take old clothing and "upcycle" it to feature in our environmentally friendly Fashion Walk on May 9. Clothing must be made at home and brought in to wear over top of clothing. If the clothing is upcycled, this may not be necessary (Ex: jeans with patches). The fashion show will be recorded and released for viewing at home with your child(ren)! Thank you for helping to support our sustainability!

Sign up here for your child to participate. The deadline to sign up for the Fashion Walk will be Friday, May 6, 2022.

Respectfully,

Greta Kuzilla, Principal
