Hance Students Enjoy Second "1st" Day

Welcome Back About 350 students enjoyed having a second "first" day as they headed back to Hance Elementary School on September 7, 2018. Students were guests at Eden Hall Upper Elementary since August 28, 2018, after the district conducted air quality tests, which indicated slightly elevated levels of indoor mold and humidity compared to outside conditions.

A thorough process was put in place to remediate the situation, re-clean, and repeat air quality tests. The thumbs up was given and staff and volunteers helped move Hance back to Eden Hall on September 6, 2018, so students could be back in the classroom on September 8, 2018.

Some Wizard of Oz characters welcomed back the students to their second first day including Dorothy played by Ms. Kuzilla, principal, and Glinda. the Good Witch of the North, played by Dr. Kristen Silbaugh, assistant superintendent of elementary education and curriculum. Dorothy and Glinda directed students to follow the Yellow Brick Road into the school.

Prior to the start of the school year, the principal and staff choose the 2018-2019 school theme of "There's No Place Like Hance."

The superintendent and assistant superintendent of secondary education and curriculum and Student Transportation of America managers were also on hand for the big welcome back.
