- Hance Elementary School
Kids of STEEL
We are so pleased to share with you that Hance Elementary is a Kids of STEEL team again this year! We invite your child to be part of the fun! Join us by going to the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon at kidsofsteel.org/races, and select our team from the drop down menu on the registration page.
The 1-mile Pittsburgh Kids Marathon is a fun way for kids (and their families) to participate in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events. This event, to take place on Sat., May 4, 2019 is also the culminating race for Kids of STEEL participants following the Kids Marathon training plan.
Each registered child receives:
- a confidence boost that comes from setting and achieving a goal
- curriculum and training plan to inspire healthy habits! Kids of STEEL was awarded “Youth Running Program of the Year” in 2015 by Running USA.
- a free entry for an adult to join them on the course
- race shirt
- finisher medal
- goody bag!
Please be sure to select our site from the list to ensure that your child is registered with our team in order to ensure your child’s shirt is delivered to our site.
This year, we will be hosting four Family Fun Fit Nights as part of the KOS training program! They will be on February 8, March 14, April 5, and May 9. More detailed information to follow in the New Year. The rest of the miles and nutrition goals will be completed at home. Remember- gym class, sporting activities, and Fit Club all count towards miles! Your will receive the tracking sheets when you sign up!

PS: If you have a child in your family who would also like to participate in Marathon weekend but the 1-mile course isn’t right for them, the Sheetz Pittsburgh Toddler Trot and the UPMC Health Plan / UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K Run takes place on the same day as the Kids Marathon!
