Greetings & Happy Friday RES Ram Families,
Richland Elementary School
Thank you from the bottom of my RES Ram heart for your dedication to the virtual learning mode from December until now. I could not be more proud of our collaborative efforts to support our students. Our teachers were impressive. Our kids displayed resiliency yet again. Our families supported each step of the process. I had the pleasure of holding class meetings with each of our 19 HR sections over the last two weeks. Students shared about their breaks, giggled, muted, unmuted, raised their virtual and physical hands, and had a good time reading “The Couch Potato” with me, a book by Jory John and Pete Oswald with a very valuable lesson right now about balancing activities on technology and activities in the real world. It was also a story with a great lesson about the benefit of trying something new, a great reminder in the beginning of this year.

Next week we start yet another chapter of school during a pandemic. Most of our students will return to their pre-Thanksgiving break model of learning (A/B or 5 days per week). This will be another transition that will need communication and collaboration between home and school. Please continue to tune into your student’s teachers for information. We will also have two spirit days to help generate excitement for our return. Please see below for descriptions of the dress if you choose to participate.

On Tuesday (L-Z day), we will ask everyone to dress like the Stars that you all are! You can make that look however you think stars look - maybe shiny gold or silver, maybe like a Hollywood star, maybe you will wear stars. No matter what, we are proud of all of our Rams for their effort during our virtual learning, so we invite you all to celebrate by coming back as the Stars that you Are!

On Wednesday (A-K day), we will have a PR Pride day by wearing green and white head to toe! You have all worked so hard as a PR community, so let’s celebrate our second day of return by displaying our Green and White!

Two final notes - if you are picking up or dropping off your student in a car rider line, please remain in your vehicles, and wear a mask if a staff member is assisting your child into your vehicle. One way we can hopefully avoid the full virtual mode for all kids is to put the protective measures in place everywhere possible. Additionally, please talk with your children about the importance of the BIG 3 - hand washing/sanitizing, wearing a mask (preferred over a shield or gaiter), and physical distancing. These three safety measures are also crucial to our whole student body returning to and remaining at school.

Thank you, and as always, stay safe and healthy!

With PRide,

Ms. Jenna L. Sloan
Principal
