(March 18, 2021) Richland Elementary School second-graders are taking Black History Month beyond February.
The students researched influential Black leaders in February in Teacher Kaitlin Kmec’s classroom and wrapped up the projects in March.
In addition to the research, students created presentations on the computer and designed cereal box covers. After they created these elements they presented the details of their influential leaders to classmates, who evaluated the presentation and made note of new information they learned.
Some of the leaders, students chose included poet Maya Angelou, George Washington Carver, Muhammad Ali, Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin, and Rosa Parks to name just a few.
