See April 30 Principal Message

Dear RES Ram Families & Students,
Richland Elementary School
We are now well into the final marking period of the school year with our days in the building dwindling. As we inch closer to summertime and a break from school, I am beyond impressed with the continued commitment to learning and growth, as well as the District Health and Safety Plan, including communication between school and home. Please continue to follow the symptoms list and let your child’s teacher, the front office and Mrs. Cassandro know if your child needs to be absent due to illness. Let’s keep up hope that all of the efforts lead us to a different school year next year.
Congratulations to our 3rd graders who completed their PSSA testing this week. I cannot say how impressed I was to see our students come to school each testing day with a smile on their faces and motivation to do their best. There were definitely some nerves at the start of the ELA testing, but I think they quickly dissipated after students knew what to expect and felt the encouragement from their teachers. I will emphasize my previous message about the PSSA tests -- they are one tiny piece of the puzzle of all of the learning that takes place in the building and growth our students make from year to year.
Now that the weather is mostly nice, our students are outside for recess often. That means that up until about 3:15, we have students outside on our grounds in the back of the building. Please be mindful and careful as you drive around the back of the building close to dismissal time for car riders. We want our students to be safe as they enjoy the outdoors and travel to and from the building for recess.
Next week, May 3-7, is Teacher Appreciation Week! All of the educators and support staff in the building will be celebrated in various capacities throughout the week. If you, as the parent/guardian, have a moment and the desire to share your appreciation in a physical note or email, I know it would be an added layer of positivity for them.
On behalf of everyone at RES, we appreciate your continued support of our students and the faculty/staff. Together we are doing great things!
With PRide,
Ms. Jenna L. Sloan
