Read Principal's October 29 Message

Greetings RES Ram Families and Students,
Greetings everyone and congratulations on the successful completion of Marking Period 1. My Quarterly Update will be in next week’s Friday Flash. Please tune in to that e-blast for a slideshow update, including some photos from around the building the last 45 days. Please keep reading for a few reminders!
Early Dismissal for Parent-Teacher Conferences - November 4
Students will have an early dismissal on Thursday, November 4, to kick off parent teacher conferences. AM Kindergarten dismissal will be from 11:50 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Regular car rider dismissal for students in grades 1-3 will begin at 12:20 p.m. Buses will be dismissed at 12:35 p.m. There will be no PM Kindergarten on Thursday, November 4. There is NO school for students on November 5. See conference details here.
National Bus Safety Week
Last week was National Bus Safety Week! If your child would like to participate in PennDOT’s Poster contest, please click HERE for the details! This is not affiliated with the school’s art class. It would be a completely independent project and participation. But, I know we have some wonderful artistic talent here at RES, so I wanted to share the opportunity!
CDC Approved Masks
Proper fitting and cloth masks are recommended for school. Gaiters are not a desirable face covering as the CDC-approved mask is a cloth or medical type face mask. Incorrect wearing, the need for repeated reminders to wear properly, and the use of any face covering other than a cloth or medical face mask could result in the need to quarantine from any setting throughout the school day. This includes the wearing of gaiters possibly causing the need to quarantine.
Book Fair Week
We will celebrate our first in-person Book Fair since 2019! It will run November 8-12. The students will get the opportunity to shop in school with their class during their library special. You are welcome to come and shop with them the evening of Friday, November 12. Please see the PTO information below with more details for the times and activities that evening. Let’s celebrate books and reading with our Richland Rams!
KDKA Turkey Fund
This year’s Read to Feed event will be held from November 12-22. Each year, our building selects a community outreach project and ties it to the love for reading. Our students will be challenged to read as many books as possible during that date range and also raise money to be donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank through the TV station, KDKA. Just $20 can feed a family for the holidays! Imagine what we could do for those in need in the Pittsburgh area if we all raised just that amount. If you would like to read more about the Turkey Fund, click/tap HERE. More information will be shared with the students regarding the fundraising and reading next week!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership!
