Read Principal's January 14 Message Featuring MLK Jr., Day Activities

Dear RES Students and Families,
Each year on the third Monday of January, we observe and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. One of the initiatives we are focusing on this year is around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As a school, district, community, and world, we want to ensure that we work together to create an environment that promotes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The Pine-Richland School District believes in the importance of a positive culture of respect for all people, students, staff, parents, and the community.
Perspective-taking is a huge part of this. Please take a few minutes of your time, at some point, to reflect with your child on how they can use love and peaceful acts to make the world and our school a better place, just like MLK Jr. did during his life and continues to do since his untimely death.
Though we do not have school in observance of this holiday, we do hope that learning about Martin Luther King Jr. takes place at home. Here are some links to children’s literature read alouds and activities that can support your child’s learning and reflection; please feel free to enjoy as a family! If your child completes any of the activities, they are welcome to turn them in upon return to school to be displayed proudly in our front lobby.
With PRide,
Jenna L. Sloan
