Special Visitors Land at Richland

Bird Collage Special guests from the National Aviary stopped by Richland Elementary School on October 10, 2019.

National Aviary presenter Sharon Fuller along with volunteer Sandy Blaylock share details about birds during their program entitled "Birds of Prey." They gave students an overview of bird characteristics from jaws to feet and how birds have variations depending on habitat.

Students were introduced to owls and even Austin, an American Kestrel.

Kestrels are the most common falcons in North America and are the size of a mourning dove.

The National Aviary has several other impressive species of Birds of Prey that you can see up close every day, including Bald Eagles, Steller's Sea Eagles, and Andean Condors.

The assembly was made possible thanks to the Richland Elementary PTO.
