Review 2nd Quarter Principal Message

Student and staff activities

Dear Richland Families:

As we conclude the first semester of this school year, we have an opportunity to not only reflect on the first half of the school year, but we can also reflect on the previous calendar year and look forward to a new decade. For example, as many of us look at initiating or reaffirming resolutions and goals, we have the ability to opt-in to a personal commitment that focuses on specific topics related to Health and Wellness.  If you accept this challenge, please click this link to input some basic information, in conjunction with one of the 4 components of the PR Graduate Portrait. The volunteers will receive a follow-up email later in the month to check on progress from Dr. Miller. More detailed information regarding this opportunity was outlined in the superintendent’s January update.

In our 1st quarter update, we outlined some physical changes that were occurring in the building. We are happy to announce that our auditorium enhancements are complete, and all new curtains and rigging equipment has been installed. These improvements are in addition to new auditorium seating and carpet, both of which were installed last year. Families have the opportunity to experience the updated space during our Family Movie Night, which is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020.

Another update included a total renovation of the restrooms in our first-grade wing. Crews have been working throughout the evening, and we anticipate a reveal to students within the next couple of weeks. Among the highlights, students will be happy to see all-new fixtures, partitions, tile, and handwashing stations!
Finally, our RAMS Way initiative continues to be successful. R.A.M.S. Way is our school-wide, positive behavior and intervention support framework that was implemented throughout grades K-12 in Pine-Richland. Students learn what it means to be Respectful, Accountable, Motivated, and Safe in various areas, such as the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, restroom, and bus.

At Richland Elementary School, we emphasize continuous improvement as we strive toward our mission to focus on learning for every student every day. I believe the Pine-Richland reputation as a leader in quality education begins at our primary schools, and I am proud to be the principal of Richland Elementary School. Thank you for your continued support!

Respectfully,
Dr. Gene Nicastro, Principal
Richland Elementary School
