PR Welcomes Coaches to Staffing Team

District Welcomes Two New Members to the Coaching Staff

Dear Pine-Richland Families:

The Pine-Richland Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Rachelle Dixon as the high school’s head varsity girls soccer coach. Coach Dixon comes to Pine-Richland after serving as the North Hills Girls Soccer coach for the past two years. She brings a wealth of Collegiate Division 1 coaching experience serving as an assistant women's soccer coach at Utah Valley State for six years. Coach Dixon is one of the few coaches in the region with a United States Soccer Federation “B” license. Apart from her coaching experiences, Coach Dixon also competed at the Division 1 Level at Brigham Young University. She holds a master’s degree in special education, a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and a minor in coaching from Brigham Young University. “I look forward to working with Coach Dixon to develop our student-athletes both on and off the field,” said PRSD Director of Athletics Sean Simmons.
Additionally, the district is announcing the hiring of Mark Hunkele as the high school head varsity cross-country coach. Coach Hunkele is no stranger to the Pine-Richland Athletic Department. He was recently hired as the head coach of the PRHS Varsity Track & Field program. He also served as the interim head cross-country coach last season. During his tenure as interim head coach, the girls varsity team finished fourth at the WPIAL championships, one of its most successful finishes in recent history. Two girls on that team finished 11th and 12th respectively at the WPIAL meet advancing to compete at the PIAA state championships. “Coach Hunkele understands and wholeheartedly aligns with our mission, vision and values,” said Mr. Simmons. “I look forward to working with Coach Hunkele developing our student-athletes and continuing to build and develop a highly competitive cross-country program.”
