Dear Pine-Richland Families:
District Modifies 2020 Calendar

We understand the many impacts on the extension of school closure through the end of the year. As a result, we are making some modifications to the 2019 - 2020 school calendar to help us address the priorities of student learning in the summer and comprehensive preparation for the 2020 - 2021 school year. We want to put students in the best position to reinforce key knowledge and skills from the last two months and best prepare for a strong start to next year. More information and a conceptual overview about this commitment to learning were described in the COVID-19 Community Update - Five Key Points podcast.
For the purpose of the current year calendar, please note that the last student day will be Friday, May 29, 2020. The district had received approval last fall for Act 80 days. These are professional development or in-service days that meet certain requirements. Those requirements allow the days to count as student days. Although we did not originally plan to use those days, we are using them now to create opportunities for other planning to take place. Therefore, the last day for students is May 29th. The following week becomes in-service days for staff planning. You can see the revised academic calendar via this link or the interactive web calendar by visiting the website.
The district is developing an FAQ document regarding questions families may have about year-end programs, events, and other topics. That document will be shared later this week.
