Senior Athlete Receives Scholar-Athlete Award
Senior Danielle Bryant was one of ten female recipients to receive 2021 WPIAL/ James Collins’ Scholar-Athlete Award.
This scholarship is awarded to any athlete who competes in a WPIAL sport at any WPIAL school. Each school is allowed to nominate one athlete of each gender. Next, WPIAL then selects 10 males and 10 females from all of the applicants to award this $1000 scholarship to.
Traditionally, recipients are honored at a luncheon provided by WPIAL, but this has halted the past two years due to the pandemic. Instead, the recipients are honored on the WPIAL website and on the WPIAL Twitter.
Danielle was part of the PR Track & Field team, competing in hurdles and sprints. In the fall, she will be attending Duke University to study law. During her time in high school, Danielle was named Honorable Mention All-State, WPIAL Champion in 2019 in the 300 Hurdles, earned fifth-place in the New Balance High School National in the 400 Hurdles, and placed fourth in the 300 Hurdles and eighth in the 100 Hurdles at the PIAA State Championship. She is the PRHS record holder for the 100, 200 meters, 4x100 Relay, and 4x400. She has earned more than 19 National Medals for Youth USA Track & Field.
