To protect your child's school clothes, please send an art smock or shirt for the school year. Please check to be sure the art smock or shirt fits comfortably over a sweatshirt or other bulky clothing. (Usually, parents or older siblings donate old T-shirts for art shirts!)

Please write your child's first name in a permanent marker on the front of the smock/shirt. This helps to learn and use names without having to refer to the seating chart. The art teacher is also happy to write your child's name on the smock or shirt if you prefer.

The best art smocks/shirts are either recycled T-shirts or aprons that your child can easily put on and take off without assistance. Waterproof smocks with ties are harder for children to dress themselves independently. Shiny and plastic materials often slide down students' arms when they are working and often interrupt their creative process.

Art smocks or shirts may stay in your child's locker for the entire school year.
