MID-TERM BELL SCHEDULE: Today we will be following a Mid-term bell schedule. The exam periods today will be periods 4 and 11. Exam periods tomorrow will be during periods 2 and 7/8 or 8/9. Good luck.
SPRING MUSICAL: PR Musical Boosters will be collecting Chick-fil-A receipts from the Cranberry and Wexford locations and receipts from Moe’s Southwest Grill from now until February 16th. The box is located in the main office of the high school.
SADIE HAWKINS DANCE NEWS: The Sadie Hawkins Dance will be held on February 2nd from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Doors will close at 7:30 p.m. Early bird ticket sales will be held during all lunch periods from January 22nd through the 25th. Early bird tickets will be $20. Regular ticket sales will be held before and after school on January 28th through February 1st in Mrs. Brough’s room, room 45. Tickets purchased during this week will be $25.
FORENSICS: Anyone interested in competing in this weekend's tournament here at P-R should sign up in Room 106 no later than Thursday morning and see Mr. Byko about practice time.
TSA-TEAMS: This an engineering competition where teams of eight students work together to solve advanced level problems using the engineering problem solving model. Sign-up sheets are currently available for any student interested in this competition.
MATH CONTEST: Pine-Richland will be providing the American Math Contest exam, that is the AMC 10 or the AMC 12 the morning of Thursday, February 7th. Interested students must sign up in room 103.
COMPUTER OLYMPIAD: This is the last call for interested students to sign up for the North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad NACLO to be held at Pine-Richland on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Please sign up in room 103. You will also need to register online at http://nacloweb.org/
STOCK MARKET CLUB: The next Stock market club meeting will be on January 22nd. The meeting will be held in room 417. Hope to see you there.
MOVIE DAY: Peer 2 Peer and PRTV are coming together to watch the movie WONDER on January 19th at 3:00 p.m. in the middle school auditorium. PRTV will have drinks, snacks and raffle tickets for purchase. P2P will have activities before/after where students can make "LifeSaver" backpack rings or help us make positive messages for a future project. All are welcome!
PEER BUDDIES: Peer Buddies periods 1-4 are to report to room 220 during your scheduled midterm time. Peer Buddies periods 6/7, 8/9, 10, 11. Please report to the testing room during your scheduled time for the midterm. You will be taking the test there. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. DiGioia.
MINI-THON: Plan to grab a burger at STACKED in Wexford on January 21st. This event is all evening, so feel free to come by anytime and mention you are there to support Mini-THON.
YEARBOOK: Time is running out for your chance to order a yearbook. Go to the web address www.yearbookforever to place your order. The final deadline is January 30th. The cost is $70.
HACK THE RAM: This event, being held on Saturday, February 9th, at PRHS, is managed by a group of four high school students led by senior Arjan Guglani and junior Justin Waltrip, who wanted to model the event after their experiences at national hackathons. Hack the Ram is a collaborative problem-solving event that aims to bring together students from around the Pittsburgh area to “hack” a project together with guidance from on-site mentors and interactive coding sessions. During Hack the Ram, participants can choose to attend seminars to try new technologies, get help from experienced programmers, or just learn more about whatever interests them. THEATER ARTS WORKSHOP: If you are interested in theater arts consider attending the Theater Arts Workshop at the Byham Theater on February 12, 2019. The Theater Arts Workshop sign up is now open in the GATE room. Please stop by to pick up your permission form and sign the list. Remember space is limited and is first come first serve.
BEATTIE: Ninth and 10-grade students interested in attending AW Beattie Career Center and would like to go on a tour need to submit a Field Trip Form to the Guidance office by January 24th. Forms require a parent signature and top 3 interested programs to visit. The Tour Date is set for Friday, February 1st during periods 1-4. You can pick up a Beattie Field Trip Form in the Guidance office.
The Guidance Office is hosting an SAT/ACT Workshop on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. in the PRHS Auditorium. An overview of both tests will be given followed by a question and answer period.
The Pittsburgh National College Fair will be held on February 7th and 8th at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Juniors that complete and return the College Fair Absence Form to Mrs. Dyer will be given an excused absence on Thursday, February 7th. The excused absence is for Thursday, February 7th only! Younger students or students that do not want to miss school are encouraged to attend the fair Thursday evening.

Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation is accepting applications from January 1 until April 30, 2019, for the annual scholarship program. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.
Gettysburg College is offering multiple summer academic camps. Interested students should check their school email or Naviance accounts for additional information.
FOOTBALL: Any current 9th, 10th & 11th graders interested in playing football next season for the WPIAL Champion Rams, please plan on attending a meeting with Coach Kasper at the stadium on Thursday, January 31st at 3:00 p.m. Workouts will officially begin on February 4th.
FENCING: Any high school boys interested in competing on the team, please come to practice at the Richland Elementary School Gym on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
SPORTS PHYSICAL: Anyone participating in a Spring Sport with the PR Middle School or PR High School must have a completed physical packet turned in to the High School Athletic Office by February 25, 2019. Packets and details can be located on the PR Website under Athletics and Forms.
WRESTLING: Tonight the Varsity and JV teams will be at Seneca Valley. The JV match is at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Varsity match at 7:00 p.m.
